A simple plate of steel used on the base of the 'Johnny Smith' mini humbucker. 6 pole holes of 50mm spacing, threaded for screws to bite into.
The Johnny Smith mini humbucker differs from standard humbuckers by having a bar magnet in the middle of one of the pickup coils. It uses the magnetic steel baseplate to transfer the magnetism of the bar magnet from that side of the pickup into the pole screws in the centre of the other bobbin (these screws are threaded directly into the baseplate itself). Having two entirely different magnetic field strengths above each pickup coil gives the pickup a more single-coil-like tone than a standard mini humbucker.
The Johnny Smith mini humbucker is an entirely unique design that should certainly be tried by any pickup builder, hobbyist and professional alike.
Compatible with our other Johnny Smith mini humbucker parts.
