The Jazz Cat is a small mini humbucker that is mounted on both sides of the neck with small screws (typically on Jazz style archtop guitars). It is placed at the base of the fretboard in the neck pickup position. Due to it's position so far from the bridge, it creates a warm, syrupy tone that is very desirable for Jazz.
The Jazz Cat is made with two small coils of wire around a (hidden) blade core, and exposed pole pieces. These cores are both charged with an alnico 5 magnets for a bright, clear tone. The coils are small and wound with thick 42 AWG wire, giving the pickup a low output which will not distort or congest the front end of any clean amp.
