The Old Timer Punisher is an active Precision bass pickup of two separate coils running into a preamp. This low output impedance pickup is based on the first active Precision bass pickup brought onto the market in 1979.
This pickup has two low wind coils powered by steel bars and ceramic magnets. The low winds keep the pickups bright and percussive without the muddiness that typically comes from overwound pickups. The active preamp then boosts this bright, lively tone from the low wind coils into a more substantial output capable of pushing your amp hard. Active bass pickups are commonly preferred due to the ability to combine both high output and unrivalled clarity.
The active design also encapsulates the pickup in a shielding layer, reducing noise significantly below their passive counterparts. The preamp also has a low output impedance, meaning that your high end response will not deteriorate to the increased capacitance of long cables.
These pickups run on a single 9v battery and are supplied with mounting screws.
